My Weekend Sports/Entertainment Review for 9-12-09

It was a great weekend of football and my teams went 1-2. Let’s start with the college level. What you know ’bout them Trojans? Yea we went down to the horseshoe and broke the hearts of over 100K buckeyes. No thanks to Matt Barkley! The keys to our victory was the O-line & Joe McKnight…. and not to mention great play from our brand new defense. Barkley was shitty. He doesn’t know how to look off his receivers and he takes forever under center! He needs to keep things moving in an up-tempo pace. He breaks the huddle, goes under center and takes forever to snap the damn ball! This gives the defense all the time in the world to get set and make adjustments; also causing the o-line to lose composure and commit false starts. The O Line is ready to go. Just snap the damn ball. Everybody is ready to play except Barkley. One thing that they didn’t take advantage of was the use of Stanley Havili – the X Factor. No linebacker in the country can cover Havili. The boy is NICE.
The defense surprised me with a B+ performance against the Buckeyes. I thought the d line did pretty good with some great plays by Everson Griffin & Jurrell Casey (LB Poly). Christian Tupou needs to step up. This unit should be doing better by mid-season. The linebackers had only one bright spot – Chris Gallipo. The kid was a natural out there and is playing great after recovering from a few back surgeries. Malcolm Smith made a few tackles but nothing spectacular. Michael Morgan was a non-factor. We need more plays from Smith and Morgan in order for our front seven to be dominant. What happened to Uona Kaveinga? This kid made plays when he got in last year. The secondary is good with Taylor Mays Kevin Thomas and Josh Pinkard back there. Taylor Mays took a bad angle on that long play but other than that, the unit did good.
We should be ok for a little while until the Cal game. From there it gets crazy. I’m looking forward to seeing their offense and our defense go at it. Jahvid Best is a beast and the heart of the Cal offense. This is where our focus will be. Notre Dame follows and I’m always looking forward to pounding Jimmy Clausen; add Manti Te’o to the list this year (LOL). That kid is a monster. Oregon State with Jacquizz “the Trojan killer” Rodgers and Oregon with Jermiah “SI Cover Boy” Masoli.. This kid has a nice arm and great speed/power to run by/over you. UCLA looks tough on defense but for now, we’ll just take it one game at a time.
As for my Buccs, well let’s just say that I am not surpised by the outcome of the game. What I liked was seeing Cadillac back on the field. Caddy and Derrick Ward had a pretty good game. The O-Line was doing great with the run blocking. Leftwich was terrible. He missed 2 wide open receivers for TD’s. I am not impressed; nor am I surprised by his performance. His inconsistency continues to plague his career. I am so upset that we didn’t get Vick! Oh well… he’s playing for one of our rivals now so fuck him. Our defense did a great job in the first half. Unfortunately, I was glued to the Bengals game in the second half to watch Rey Maualuga do work. Shout out to Fanene, Peko, Brian Leonard, Carson, Tank, Keith, Roy Williams, and Ocho Cinco. It was a pleasure following them on Hard Knocks and on the field. Miss seein TJ#84 out there.
While we’re on the NFL, shout out to Desean Jackson for that sick ass 85 yard TD on the punt return. In case you didn’t know he’s from Long Beach Poly high. Google it. LOL. One of the best WR’s to play at Cal. The best I’ve actually seen was Geoff McArthur a few years back. Shout out to former Trojans Rey Maualuga, Mark Sanchez, Brian Cushing, and Clay Mathews on a great start to their rookie campaign.
Now for my high school team – Long Beach Polytechnic. We are off to the worst start in school history. Currently sitting at 0-2, Poly has suffered both losses to powerhouse schools with almost the same reputation in the Southern Section. The first loss was to Anaheim Servite (Chris Gallipo) and the second to reigning D2 State Champs St. Bonaventure. They only managed to score seven points in both contests; one of them on special teams. That should give you a pretty good idea on how well their offense performs. The defense only returns one starter, I think. The offense has a brand new O-line and QB. I expect them to come into the regular season at 1-4. It’s a sad year for Poly football.

Ok I think that covers football from my perspective. Oh and shout out to the boys in blue – them Los Angeles Dodgers! They won the series in Frisco this weekend. We gave up the last game but owned the Giants in the first two games.

What the hell was up at the Mtv VMA’s? Kanye was a fuckin idiot for that stunt he pulled. His intent may have been to get people talking about him but that shit was uncalled for. I don’t even like Taylor Swift but she didn’t deserve that. He had a point but you still don’t do that shit. And then Lil Mama tryna pull a Kanye? What the hell has she done to make her think she can share the stage with Hov and Alicia Keys? Why is she a judge on America’s Best Dance Crew? She can’t dance!

INFIDELITIES

So here we go again. Another hot topic in society and something very personal with me right now. Infidelities…. Ever since puberty, one of my priorities has been conquering the opposite sex. I am pretty sure that this is the case with most of the hetero males in the country. For most males, being faithful in a committed relationship is almost impossible. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been with your girl or wife. It seems to be written in our DNA to cheat on our women. I, however, am an exception. I am 100% faithful (LMAO). The word “cheat” itself seems a little extreme. Anyhow, if you’re a guy then you know what I’m talking about. We all get that cocky attitude sometimes where we like to celebrate our sexual conquests (virgins excluded – no offense) and we even tend to embellish. Well….you guys do. I keep it real. Ha! I’m in a committed relationship and I always joke with my “+1” about how I’m “gettin it” at work or while I was out of town. We got that trust so it’s cool for us to joke around like that. Side note: When you can joke with your woman about stuff like that and how hot other girl’s look and what not, she’s a keeper. But we’re men and “WE LOVE GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS. GIRLS WE DO ADOOOORE” (JAY-Z. 2002). I mean it doesn’t matter how deeply committed we are, when we see a fine ass female, please believe, we lookin… some of you might be using your peripherals (40yrOldVirgin) but I am straight up lookin at you boo (losing formal tone…going ghetto.LOL). I’m just sayin that I love that you take the time out to work on lookin so damn beautiful. hhaha…

I can’t be mad at that. So, I guess what I’m getting at is when is it the right time to stop the infidelities? When do you put the bullshit aside and say “look, you did your thing. Stop all the games and be true to your woman”. Because while you out there wylin out, you’ve got the true love of your life waiting for you at home. She’s doing everything a good woman does: she works, cooks, keeps the house spotless, tends to the children, and makes sure that your sorry ass is taken care of in every fucking way possible. What is it? Have you fallen out of love with wifey and into the arms of a home wrecker? Because that is how your children are going to see this chic that you left your wife for… a fucking home wrecker. Especially if the bitch is married her damn self?!

This shit is very dear to me right now because a woman that I love with all my heart and soul is being disrespected and pretty much shitted on while her bullshittin ass husband is out there being a dumbass. Dude is a grandfather already and still out there like he’s in college. I could give a fuck about the shit he has done for me. My concern is for this honest woman that has given him her life and this is the muthafuckin thanks she gets? FUCK YOU! You fucking killed my VEGAS buzz with this bullshit. Got me second guessing my pimp hand and shit (LOL couldn’t help it). Got me re-strategizing my mackin tactics n shit! You can’t rewrite the player’s code and now u got me tryna find loop holes n shit. There should be a fuckin age limit and certain criteria. If you got grandkids and a great woman at home, retire your dumbass from the game. Is it really worth losing your life over? Is her old, wrinkle pussy that good? My first instinct is to put my foot up your ass.
Some of you might say “cheating is wrong and should never be acceptable”. That may be true but men have been cheating since the beginning and it aint ever gon stop so deal with it. That’s my time folks.

The Week

Ok it’s Monday – the start to a new week. We’re going to go back over the week that just ended. First off, work sucked this week (as it does every week). Not too much went on this week besides a lot of work and a lot of school. The weekend was ok. Friday night I did some studying and called it a night. I figured there was nothing going on so I crashed out. When I woke up the next morning for work, I found my phone and saw that I had missed calls and texts from my brothers. They wanted to meet up at the bar for some drinks and planning for our Vegas trip (another blog). Needless to say, I was super pissed off. The chances of us ever hanging out are slim so I was pretty upset. Moving on….
Saturday is my last work day. I got off early because I was either going to head over to the Carson family house or the Cocky Ridaz picnic at Harbor Park in Harbor City. I was too tired and went straight home for a nap. Woke up 4 hours later and made my way to the Carson house. There was a going away party for the young fam, Kenny Tuiloma. He’s headed off to New York next week for college. It was a big deal and almost each person at the party got to share a few words of encouragement for Kenny; some more words than others. It got pretty emotional. After all the talk and prayer, the party got started and the line for the feast started to form. The crew called me over to the drinking section while wifey made me a plate. The food was excellent.
As the night went on, I ran through a dozen beers and was feeling great. Interesting conversations and debates kept things going. One topic came up that really got to me was brought up by CapDawg13 (names have been changed to protect the innocent.LOL). He said that Ed Reed is better than Troy Polamalu and Troy sucks. WTF?! This drew a heated argument and you know I won. This topic will be blogged in the near future as football season approaches.
After the party we left to the Marriott Hotel for a little afterparty. I ended up falling asleep on the chairs by the pool. Yesterday was uneventful. Just stayed home and relaxed in the cool house. And there you have it. My weekly wrap up.

The Youth of Today

In light of the recent drama in my life, I decided to blog about Samoan family values. Like most families, we are raised to respect our elders. Some of the main elements of our society is religion, culture, family, and respect. I am a second generation Samoan-American. I believe my parents did a fine job in raising me. Yes, I was a headache at times but what kid isn’t. My only regret in life is that I did not take the time to dive deep into my culture. I am what you could say “Americanized”. By that, I mean I have lost touch with my roots in some ways. I cannot fully speak/understand the language and I don’t have a full understanding of the traditions. Are my parents to blame? Hell No! My parents spoke the language to me everyday of my life. It was I who chose not to embrace it. I’m the one who did not want to hear it and forced them to speak English to me. I love my culture and most of my people. I listen to the music even though I have no idea what they’re talking about. It just reminds me of the old days when my parents used to play it all the time. Maybe I miss being under their care.

I have a lot of Samoan friends of my generation and about a quarter of them have a full grasp of the culture. The other three quarters and myself are trying to catch up. One of the things that we all have is respect for our family, our parents, and our elders. This brings me to the new generation of our people. Respect is starting to fade away from the values of our people. I have witnessed a lot of sad and bad things. I have seen a young man physically assault his father, another young man assaulting his older sister, a girl constantly disrespecting her mother and older siblings. I could go on and on but my point is what happened to the respect? Since when did it become ok for our kids to be so disrespectful to their parents and olders siblings? To even assault and threaten them? I have heard some people say “hey we’ve all done stupid things when we were their age”. This may be true…. but disrespecting/assaulting my parents and older siblings was never on our list of stupid things. We knew better. These kids went through the same upbringing as my generation. Could it be the sign of the times? Is this a result of the environment nowadays? I say it is all on them as individuals. They know right from wrong and yet they constantly choose the latter when faced with making decisions. They are so easily influenced by the negativity out there. It’s just rediculous. This is why I blame them. There is no one to blame but themselves.

What kills me is that there are still those in the circle that want to accomodate or cater to these stupid fucks! (anger is setting in). These people don’t know shit about the situation. They fall for the scared or frightened child act. They think that we are not being understanding to the childs antics or rebellious ways. What the fuck is there to understand? The little bitch is disrespecting everybody including the dumbasses that want to save them! So as you can see, I am referring to a recent event that just took place. This little shit had the nerve to talk shit, call out her older brother, and disrespect her older sister for putting her on restriction. JUST BECAUSE SHE WAS BEING PUNISHED!! Fuck her and what she’s going through. No one likes to be punished but oh well… deal with it. This girl has no respect for her family. She respects her friends more. She crushin on her “favorite cousin”, smokin weed, drinking, and who knows what else. It wouldn’t surprise me if….. aaah never mind. She is a selfish little girl. The girl is like 18 years old and still acts like she’s 12. Her mom even told her that. So she decides to run away for the second time in 2 weeks!! If you’re gonna run away (grammar errors building up), stay away! What’s the point? You’re just gonna bring your ass home anyway? Which recently happened for the second time.

What makes this more fucked up is that other people’s names were drug into this and now their names/reputations are tarnished…..with me anyways. These people knew of all the stupid shit she was doing and did not come forward with it. Even the ones that want to save her can’t see the problem in all her shit. I keep wondering to myself “don’t they see that she doesn’t respect them either? they tried to help her last time and she is still up to no good. Shouldn’t that tell them that she doesn’t give a fuck about what they say? And they still want to help her? Why? Maybe because they too were disrespectful to their parents and older siblings. Could that be it?” It doesn’t matter. YOU NEVER EVER DISRESPECT YOUR PARENTS AND OLDER SIBLINGS!!! EVER!! Not in our culture. It is never acceptable. The people that want to help her are sending the wrong message. They are pretty much telling her that it is ok to do all this shit, run away, then go home and apologize for the shit you just pulled. FUCK THAT. You talk shit and think you ARE the shit, you better be ready to back that shit up! Disrespect calls for a big ass whoopin, a BEATDOWN! You don’t do all that shit and come back, thinking everything is all good now. Bitch please. You aint fuckin with the average family. We Samoans. We beat our fucking kids. Well….. most of us anyways. LOL. You know who you are. LOL. (txt msg comm setting in).

So there’s my issue for the day folks. Today’s youth and their lack of respect for family. All comments/criticisms are welcomed. I am new to blogging so cut me SOME slack.
